A quick break whilst returning to Cameron Highlands proved to be a worthwhile getaway. Sure, there ain't 'much' to do there (shopping, partying, entertainment...) but it sure was peaceful and stress relieving. Activities at the getaway included pigging out at the local scones/tea cafes, visiting one of the tea plantations & night market, walking about Tanah Rata and Brinchang and unexpectedly... jungle trekking.
The journey from PJ --> Cameron Highlands took over 3 hours. 2 hours to Simpang Pulai then another hour plus to climb up 70kms of winding road and the Pahang state line. This is where the fun began. Cutting lorries, buses, and good ol' Sunday drivers made time pass quicker. The winding roads are where the beauty of Kara shows. Her handling for corners were super. Love to ascend/descend those curvy bits of tarmac with ease. Woots for Proton!
The air in the morning is wonderfully fresh but smog from the damn local farm jeeps and tour buses really do spoil the mood. That aside, the breeze throughout the day was pretty pleasant. Found a pretty good jungle trek path unexpectedly whilst exploring Tanah Rata and decided to explore further (Indiana Jones fever is in the air..). The trek was pretty alright and not as strenuous as earlier thought. The cool air and the sound of Robinson Waterfall made the trek a whole lot more better. Didn't manage to complete the trek, but heck I;ll make sure I bring the rest of the boys and we're gonna conquer it.
After much dining of tea and scones, it was time to come back home to the warm stuff air of the Klang Valley. Oh well... Camerons is definitely a great place to run to for a quick getaway. I'll be back here again someday soon. :)
